The subfloor is where the house meets the trailer. The first step was to cover the trailer bed with 3/8″ sheathing followed by a perimeter or sill plate of 2×6’s. The sheathing was fastened using polyurethane construction adhesive and 3/16″ self tapping waffle head screws. The 2×6’s were fastened down with 5/16″ carriage bolts and polyurethane construction adhesive. The sheathing serves to hold in the foam insulation and as a thermal break from the trailer. The sill plate(2×6’s) serves as an attachment surface for the framing and plywood T&G flooring. All the wood was coated with wood preservative to stop insects, mold and rot.
